Edison

With an ethically diverse population, Edison has both public and private
schools. Public schools include 2 high schools and eleven elementary
schools. Private schools include the prestigious Wardlaw-Hartridge
school along with other private schools and several Parochial high
schools. Colleges include the Lincoln Technical institute, Middlesex
College and Rutgers University’s Livingston campus which is partly
located in Edison. Edison also boasts 3 public library branches.

The township has many recreational facilities including two Senior
centers, movie theaters, a country club and over 25 parks. The
Stephen J. Capestro Theater located in the beautiful Roosevelt Park
is an outdoor
amphitheater, hosting “Plays-In-The Park” which includes 3
musicals every summer. Construction has also begun on plans to expand
Middlesex College and the Thomas Edison Park, which will
include an open-air multipurpose community venue for concerts and
events; a new community park; an athletic complex featuring 16 tennis
courts and a cricket field.

Edison is a transportation hub, with an extensive network of highways passing
through the township and connecting to major Northeast cities, including New York.
Serviced by NJ transit it provides public buses and railway including the
Northeast Corridor Line running both south and north, with
connections to Amtrac.
